What is the SRI?
The initiative is a three year programme of research, with a separate study each year. We undertake research into the security sector where the aim is to evaluate topics that are of importance to the security world, and to develop insights and practical recommendations. The Security Research Initiative is supported by the British Security Industry Association, The Security Institute, and ASIS International (UK Chapter), and is being sponsored by 14 companies (see below).
What has the SRI achieved?
We have undertaken three major projects in Phase 1 of the SRI and a further three major projects in Phase 2. Click here for highlights on our previous research

We have now commenced Phase 3 of the SRI. Click here for information on how to become a member of the SRI
What is the current piece of research?
We are undertaking a study to identify how the security sector might best respond to economic and regulatory changes. This will culminate in a written report of the main findings in September 2012.
Current Security Survey - December 2011 to February 2012 We are currently undertaking a survey of the security sector to address the state of the security sector and specifically the impact of both changes to regulation and the recession. It is an online survey which takes approximately 20 minutes to complete, and participation is completely anonymous. We are surveying three main groups:
1) Directors and Managers of a company providing security goods and/or services 2) Buyers of security goods and/or services (such as security managers, facilities managers and procurement specialists) 3) Security officers or supervisors of security officers who undertake security guarding duties
If you fit in to one of the types of roles listed above and would like to take part, simply click on the link below. The deadline for responses is the end of January 2012:
