Violence Against Women and Girls
Supporting Local Authorities to Tackle Violence Against Women and Girls

  • Domestic violence accounts for 14% of all violent incidents.

  • One in four women and one in six men will be a victim of domestic violence in their lifetime with women at greater risk of repeat victimisation and serious injury.

  • At least 750,000 children a year witness domestic violence (Department of Health, 2002).

Hiding

There are clear benefits to a strategic joint approach to commissioning violence against women services based on a robust assessment of the local need based on the four stages of the commissioning process:
  • Understand – assessing the local needs, resources and priorities and agree the desired outcomes that commissioning is seeking to achieve;
  • Plan – mapping out and considering the different ways in which outcomes might be achieved through both formal services and other interventions;
  • Do – putting in place the necessary investments to support delivery through procurement, grant funding and other means; and
  • Review – reporting and monitoring performance against expected outcomes and considering further improvements that can be made.

How we can help you

Perpetuity can help you to review local service provision and partnerships to tackle violence against women and girls and also support you through each stage of the commissioning process by:
  • Reviewing  national and local documentation to identify opportunities for strategic alignment as well as any gaps and conflicts
  • Mapping budgets and required outcomes in order to identify opportunities for joint commissioning
  • Undertaking a needs analysis based on current data and trends to determine the current and future demand for services
  • Assessing the effectiveness of current provision, value for money and benchmarking
  • Consulting with stakeholders, service providers and service users to obtain feedback on the current provision
  • Recommending improvements to current services to improve outcomes, value for money and effectiveness, including new service models
  • Developing/improving structures to integrate domestic and sexual abuse pathways
  • Supporting partnerships to undertake their own service user consultation.
