Developing a systematic approach to security management and gaining recognition for your achievements
Meeting your objectivesAll organisations would like to have appropriate security measures in place to minimise the risk of crime. However, achieving this in the context of available resources and other responsibilities can be a challenge. ‘Secured Environments’is a police certification scheme based around six key principles that were developed to help organisations to manage security appropriately. It provides an easy-to-follow framework for undertaking your own risk assessment and developing an informed response. The emphasis is not on buying expensive equipment – it’s all about doing the straightforward things that any organisation can do to protect its assets. This may actually result in savings and better use of resources. Organisations achieving certification can be secure in the knowledge that they have taken all sensible steps to protect property, people and data. The award is also concrete evidence to staff, customers and the general public of their commitment to crime prevention.
Ways the scheme helps you
Organisations registering for the scheme are provided with a straightforward and structured approach to developing a security plan, along with back-up information and assistance until certification is achieved. The scheme involves:
Six principles – The certification process enables organisations to consider the six key principles (commitment, understanding, responding, management, implementation and evaluation), how they apply to them and the actions they therefore need to take to improve current measures and meet the criteria of the Secured Environments standard.
Website support – on registration, you gain access to website tools that enable you to carry out your own risk assessment. There’s also a wealth of other support material including case studies and useful information on dealing with security and crime and disorder issues
One-to-one support – our dedicated team of advisors will answer your queries by email and telephone and provide assistance in meeting the scheme criteria.
Limited documentation – the standard has been designed to avoid unnecessary paperwork and focus on key documents such as the security plan.
The audit – on registration, you are provided with full details of the audit process and requirements, and can also see an example of the kind of feedback you could expect from an audit. Once you are happy that your organisation is meeting the set criteria, you can contact us to arrange a date for your audit.
The logo – on completion of a successful audit, you will receive a certificate signed by the police and be able to use the police approved Secured Environments logo and buy a plaque to display at your premises as concrete evidence of your commitment and achievements.
